In the world of heavy metal, one name stands out above the rest: Metallica. Die-hard fans have held onto the band's unyielding commitment to the music that has defined Gen-X — and with the latest Metallica M72 tour, it's clear the four horsemen still have a huge following among those born in the '70s and '80s. And now, there's a new wave of young Metallica fans on the rise. It's been reported that both dads and moms, plus their kids alike, have been spotted at shows enjoying all the hits from the kings of thrash — lead singer James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo.
Metalheads worldwide are gearing up for the m72 tour that promises to be nothing short of legendary. In case you didn't know, 72 refers to the 72 seasons that make up a person's formative first 18 years of life, which is also the title of the band's new album (released in April 2023).
Tickets are readily available for purchase through Ticketmaster, StubHub, Vivid Seats, and SeatGeek. See below for show dates and helpful tips on how to snag your tickets.

Where to Buy Metallica M72 Concert Tickets Online
Lucky for you, you're not trying to score tickets to Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo concerts, which have sold out within hours. Although Metallica is iconic, buying tickets for the big-name heavy metal band's concert will be a whole lot easier, not to mention less expensive. Tickets are readily available on various ticket sale sites.
You can buy them from Ticketmaster — and they're not even resale! — before going anywhere else, as they're not sold out for many cities across the country and internationally at the moment. You can also head to resale sites like StubHub, Vivid Seats, and SeatGeek if you can't find the exact seats you're seeking on Ticketmaster.
How Much You'll Spend on Metallica's M72 Concert
Prices vary by section, seat, and view. On Ticketmaster, the cheapest Metallica tickets are going for around $50 in upper sections, while VIP packages (if still available) seem to start at $350. Aside from VIP packages (which include early entrance and standing-only floor tickets), floor tickets without VIP can run about $175+. While you may not get an actual chair to sit on, you'll be right in the action and can move about the circular stage.
Ticketmaster
Although the ticket types we just mentioned are readily available on Ticketmaster, what's not as easy to nab are tickets in the Snake Pit, which is a smaller section in the center of the circular stage, as you can see in the diagram above. Snake Pit tickets can be procured on resale sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats for $1,000+. These prices will vary greatly based on demand. In some cases, we saw Snake Pit tickets for upwards of $4,000.
What to Expect at Metallica's M72 Concert
The tour kicked off on April 27, 2023, in Amsterdam — and the reviews are in. While the band is out promoting 72 Seasons, their 11th studio album, they play the best hits: "Master of Puppets," "Creeping Death," "Seek and Destroy," "Enter Sandman," and "For Whom the Bell Tolls," just to name a few. But one important thing to note: Since Metallica is playing 2 shows per city (with the exception of Mexico City, where they will do 4), the fan favorites are spread out between the nights in every location. If you're a huge fan, you may want to go to both shows so you don't miss your top picks.
As far as the concert experience goes, Metallica performs on a circular stage with floor seats surrounding it, as well as a Snake Pit right in the center. You can expect the show to run for a total of two hours and 45 minutes.
Merch lines will be crazy long, so plan accordingly if you're looking to spend.
Who Are the Opening Bands for Metallica M72?
Along with varying setlists across their two shows per city, Metallica will also have a rotation of supporting bands per show. The group of opening acts includes Greta Van Fleet, Pantera, Mammoth MVH, Five Finger Death Punch, Architects, Volbeat, and Ice Nine Kills.
One notable addition to Pantera is Jackson's Zakk Wylde on guitar, and Mammoth WVH, featuring Wolfgang Van Halen (son of Eddie Van Halen).
How to Pick the Right Concert Tickets For You
Use the filters, metal heads! On ticket sale sites, you'll be able to toggle based on preferences like sections and prices.
As you select tickets, remember that the stage is circular, so there's no such thing as a "worst view." You'll obviously want a great spot, but you should also decide if you want floor seats — which is standing room only. If you're short, good luck. If you're worried about a taller person blocking you, the first raised section outside of the floor or general admission is your best bet.
And if you're still worried about the view, you can use AViewFromMySeat.com, which gives you user-generated photos of the venues from previous visits. Because Metallica is operating in a circular stage situation, try to search for past Ed Sheeran shows, as the pop star also used a circular stage in the center of the floor.
We hope all of this helps and that you get to see Metallica. Rock on!
